Shorecrest is seeking an accomplished and student-centered Math teacher and Department Chair. The ideal candidate will be comfortable teaching all levels of math, including Advanced Placement and possibly a post-AP elective, such as Multivariable Calculus. The candidate will have a passion for teaching, embrace authentic assessment and innovative pedagogy, and above all, be committed to student learning and development. As Chair, the individual will lead department and cross-divisional curriculum review and development, assist in hiring new faculty, and identifying professional development needs and opportunities that will further teacher growth. Department Chairs sit on the Curriculum Council, which helps to review, coordinate and develop academic policies for the Upper School.
Founded in 1923, Shorecrest is one of the oldest independent schools in Florida. Last year, 70% of its graduates matriculated to universities outside the state of Florida. Its curriculum is challenging and offers students multiple opportunities for advanced study through its extensive AP program, advanced elective and online offerings, and and an Independent Study option.
