ACADEMIC SUPPORT COUNSELOR JOB DESCRIPTION Organizational Summary:

We are currently seeking a full-time Academic Support Counselor for the 2019-2020 academic year who will work alongside our current Academic Support Counselor and other school administrators. Below, please find qualifications for the position.
? Experience in a comparable role
? Strong interpersonal communication and writing skills
? Strong time management and organizational skills
? A background in education; degree in reading, cognitive science, special
education or a related field preferred
? Time spent in the classroom preferred
Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:
? Works with students to foster academic success
? Works closely with other Academic Support Counselor, School Counselor, and
? Oversees standardized testing and nonstandard test administration
? Helps students and faculty manage classroom accommodations
? Coordinates plans for supporting students of concern with other administrators
? Advises parents about strategies that facilitate learning
? Maintains confidential student files
? Interprets cognitive testing reports
? Advises teachers in best strategies for instruction for students with learning differences
? Coordinates tutors on campus
? Communicates with outside private support providers about Tampa Prep
students and how best to navigate with teachers, admin, etc.
? Serves as a resource for admissions office
? Coordinates with other student support services at school like advisors, NHS
student tutoring, and Writing Center
