Shorecrest is seeking an accomplished and student-centered instructor in English to join a collaborative and supportive faculty. The ideal candidate will be comfortable teaching all levels of English in the Upper School, including AP English and/or Language. The primary focus in the
first years will likely involve 11th grade English, a survey of American Literature to be taught with deliberate crossover with topics discussed in American History. The candidate will have a strong
background in the teaching of writing and literary analysis, a passion for teaching, and a
commitment to student learning and development. An interest in creating and teaching
semester-length advanced English electives is an added asset.Interested candidates must have teaching experience or demonstrated expertise in their assigned subject area, as well as a desire to be part of an independent school community that thrives on the relationships built outside of the classroom.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated commitment to student-centered and innovative educational practices.
Bachelor’s degree in subject area required; a Master’s degree is preferred, but not required.
Collaborative and engaged member of the faculty who is committed to student growth, as well as their own professional learning.
Enthusiasm for embracing the independent school model of mentoring, advising, and supporting students outside of the classroom.
Commitment to a community that values equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Able to use online learning platforms and basic G Suite for Education (Google) tools.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
