The School Board of Manatee County, Florida is prepared to offer up to a three-year contract with a salary range of $220,000 – $260,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications, plus competitive benefits, and incentives. Candidates selected as finalists must be available for on-site interviews August 18-19, 2025. The position start date and transition period will be subject to contract negotiations with the School Board.

Ten (10) years successful administrative/leadership experience

Experience in a school district with approximately 20,000 or more students
Experience as a teacher, school based and district level administrator
The School District of Manatee County is one of the 100-largest school districts in the nation with more than 55,000 students and is Manatee County’s largest employer with more than 6,000 employees. Manatee County is located on the southwest tip of Tampa Bay, within an hour’s drive of Tampa and St. Petersburg, and is famous for its more than 25 miles of some of the world’s most beautiful and relaxing beaches. The School Board is seeking a new superintendent to replace the former superintendent who served Manatee County from July 2023 to May 2025.

The district contains 48 traditional public schools, two K-8 schools, 15 charter schools and nationally renowned Manatee Technical College. Two new schools, both K-8, will open in August 2025. Two more elementary schools are scheduled to open in 2026, and a new high school is planned for 2027. The district has established a consistent pattern of rising student achievement scores based on state testing. In 2023-2024, 20 schools earned A grades, including two Title 1 schools and the district’s newest high school. The graduation rate also rose 3.4% over the past year.
